Thanks to the early Norwegian immigrants to the US, Norwegian culture has been accorded a tremendous amount of respect and genuine affection by the American people. In the last decades, Norwegian literature and art have made a significant contribution to American popular culture in movies, music and theater.

"STAR QUEST" is the title of my first movie, a 35mm feature film production. It's based on an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's play, "Fruen fra havet," or in English, "The Lady from the Sea." The play was written in 1888, about a seaman, "The Stranger," who comes back from a long voyage to reclaim the girl he was once engaged to. The play is a fascinating story about the importance of vows in man-woman relationships. "STAR QUEST," in that light promotes the culture of Norway. It presents some cherished values regarding freedom in a marriage.

In the adaptation of the play to the screen, we have taken the time frame of the story from the past and moved it to the future. The seaman is now a spaceman, coming back from a long voyage in outer space! We have utilized genuine and authorized NASA footage to convey a fascinating impression of space. The play itself has undergone very few changes, for example references to "space" instead of "sea" and some streamlining of the parallel construction of the original story and emphasizing the dynamic character of "Ellida," whom we've called "Lydia" in the movie version.

Liv Alexander stars with Burt Ward ("Robin" in the "BATMAN" TV series and the first BATMAN movie.) The cast, the sets, the costumes and production values are all excellent. We have received many compliments from Hollywood film industry professionals. Henrik Ibsen is considered the father of modern drama by drama critics and scholars. Hollywood screenplay writers have successfully utilized Ibsen's dramatic techniques for decades. "JAWS," by Steven Spielberg, for example, was based on Ibsen's "An Enemy of the People."

"STAR QUEST" is then also an American cultural celebration and contribution to the Norwegian culture.
